Unplanned

Taman Universiti, Skudai, Johor.

Basically, it was a planned occasion at first, but then we ran into a problem. So basically, it didn't work out. Since we've all gathered, our plan B was to hangout. The gathering was unplanned, but the activity was planned. You know what I mean right? haha, okay. So, you're probably asking what was the original plan, yes? Well, our first intention was to visit Ishaq and celebrate his belated birthday after jumaat prayer. So, we all gathered at this Indonesian restaurant in Taman U before going to Ishaq's house. To confirm Ishaq was at home, I called his younger brother and he told me that they were about to bring him to a hospital for physiotherapy. Yeah, it was a bad timing.

I brought my camera along with me; the main reason was to shoot some pictures of Ishaq. Since it didn't turned out as planned, so I took some pictures of my friends, hanging out, eating ABC and Cendol. So, here are the pictures I took. ^^,

P/s: Happy 23rd Birthday To Ishaq (29/12) and Fahim (31/12). May Allah bless the two of you always. InsyaALLAH.

Bored

In My Own Room, Johor.

These are just some pictures that I took at the moment when I feel bored. Focusing fully on my thesis can be a headache and all. And its boring when you have to face the screen & put your fingers on the keyboard every time and every day. Playing internet games can however resolve the boring-ness, but it won't last long, I still end up being bored. *I really hope that I could finish my thesis quickly.* After taking these pictures, I still and again, end up being bored. But, what the heck? By doing things like this can be beneficial for me - its my hobby anyway. Actually, there are other things that can be beneficial, like reading etc. I'm not fond of reading though, but I do read DCM Magazine - sometimes. Oh well. Here are the pictures. ^^,

Hotel Putra

Kuala Lumpur.

Not much to say in this post. haha. Just random pictures that I took while staying in Putra Hotel. It was early in the morning. So, everything was a mess in the room. Not many shots taken though. My point of taking these shots were to present the feeling or the mood in the early morning. Well, I'm not basically sure if I did achieve that, but I've tried. haha. So, here they are. ^^,

Pak Itam & Family

Johor Bahru, Johor.

Alhamdulillah. It is said that people who comes and visit our home will bring good fortune to us. They also cherish and light up the surrounding around us with shines of happiness. The joy we experienced today will create good and remember-able memories for tomorrow and the future. Pak Itam and family came to Johor and visit my home. It was fun, really fun to have them around. My family seldom gets visits from relatives that come from far. Most of them live in the north and far far south (e.g. Sarawak). I can't remember when was the last time they came but my parents said that they've visited us here in Johor before. Maybe it was years back, back when I was a tike maybe. Anyhow, this was a great family time. That night my family served them homemade spaghetti which was totally and utterly delicious. And the next day, we brought them to Pizza Hut to have lunch together.

So, here are the shots taken. ^^,

Mini Reunion

Bandar Baru Uda (BBU), Johor Bahru, Johor.

Just another of those spontaneous unplanned mini reunions. Well, basically, the original plan was to eat with Nawal and Najlaa. Then Nawal asked me if she could invite Nurul and Hafizah too. So, I didn't mind. Then the sudden spontaneous idea came out, this might as well be a reunion then; a mini reunion for former students of KMJ06/07. So, after playing badminton with friends that morning, I picked up Nawal and Hafizah at their house some time in the afternoon, and lastly I picked up Nurul in Kolej Perdana. So, all 4 of us headed to BBU. Once arrived, Nawal and I performed Zohor prayer first at a mosque, then afterwards, we picked up Najlaa at her house, then lastly, all 5 of us headed to this Nasi Kukus Restaurant to eat. And another thing, we also went to Tutti Fruitti, which is sort of like an exquisite yogurt ice-cream stall, for dessert.

Since it is a mini reunion, I brought along my camera and snap some shots. So here are some of it. ^^,

Rainy Day

Kuala Lumpur - Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

I took these shots just to test my knowledge and skills on what settings to use during this type of situation. It was raining, unstable due to the movement of the car and had not much lighting too. I also used manual-focus to capture cars moving since the window of my car had particles of water drops which making auto-focus not useful. I also changed the function of my release button so that it would just snap at subjects without locking at them. So, these are the results. Not bad eh? haha ^^,

Visitors

Johor Bahru, Johor.

On this post, I've decided to include some pictures of people who have visited my house. Each time, a guest/s comes over, they brighten up my house with happiness. So, I'll share a short story behind these three photos. ^^,

Triple Double 1

Johor Bahru, Johor.

[Situation]
Two men sitting on a bus stops's bench, waiting for the arrival of their bus before going to work. John waits for bus number 5, while Joe waits for number 6. John had an iPad and Joe had a newspaper. Basically, they used them to fill their time waiting. They were really focused on their activity. Then -
(Conversation)
John : "Today is special."
Joe : "Pardon me?"
John : "Its a special day today."
Joe : (Puzzled) "oh, okay, then good for you."
John : "Don't you know what date it is?"
Joe : "What about the date?"
John : "Its triple double 1."
Joe : (Feeling a bit irritated) "Huh?"
John : "You really don't know?"
Joe : (Trying to focus on reading) "No. I'm sorry I don't."
John : (Giggled) "C'mon, everyone knows."
Joe : (Annoyed) "Then tell me."
John : "Its 11th of November 2011 silly!"
Joe : "No it isn't."
John : "What news paper are you reading?"
Joe : "The News Weekly."
John : "You are stingy."
Joe : (Angry) "Say what?! One more word and I'll...."
John : (Immediate interruption with calm) "Your paper is dated yesterday. Look."
Joe : (He looked at the date) "Oh, crap."
John : (Laughing sarcastically) "Ha ha"
Joe : (Slaps John hard with the iPad) "That's 1 slap, I'll double & triple the slap if you annoy me again."

Just a dumb story that I made up, and it ain't that funny at all. I made it up just to fill the space in this post. haha.. So today is 11th of November 2011. A date like this only comes every 100 years. Since the date is special, the occasion today was also special. A friend of mine just got married, and tomorrow they will have their ceremony. I came to her house just to snap some photos so that I could fill up my blog and posted/published it on this date (11/11/11). To me, that date would be something interesting for my blog as it only comes every 100 years. So here are the shots taken. ^^,

Aidiladha 2011 - Qurban

Johor Bahru, Johor.

This is an annual activity where residents of Taman Sri Pulai (Muslim residents, specifically) gather around to celebrate Eidul Adha and perform Qurban. So, for this particular occasion, there were 2 types of animals - 1 lamb and 3 cows, four in total, to be sacrificed for the purpose of Qurban. Everyone that participated in this activity made their contributions in completing the activity. So basically, my responsibility is taking photos of  the people who execute their works. That's the least I can do. haha..

On that day, the Qurban had started very early in the morning and the first animal to be sacrificed was the lamb. I missed that particular moment but I managed to capture some moments of the other 3 cows. I have to remind you, there are some pictures of blood and stuff, so viewers who might felt disturb is advised to immediately skip that photo as it is not censored. After all the activities of Qurban is settled, delicious foods are made from those animals. But there was only one main dish - sup daging - (besides some other dishes) which was made from the cows, the other main dish - the lamb - was not being served. I don't know why, but everyone there didn't have the chance to taste it. So where the heck did it go? Unfortunately, I don't know, and I think no one knows. And most probably no one even cares. So, what the heck? haha..

So, here are the shots I've taken. Enjoy ^^,

Happy Eidul Adha Everyone!

Aidiladha 2011 - Ibadah Haji 2010

Johor - Jeddah - Madinah - Mekkah - Jeddah - Johor, Earth.

Happy Eidul Adha to all my fellow Muslims all around the world. In conjunction with today's celebration, I've decided to post something special in my life. That special thing is about me and my parents performing our one in a life time holy duty, which is doing The Hajj. Alhamdulillah, after all those years of waiting and preparation, a big thank YOU to ALLAH for blessing me and my family and giving us the opportunity to perform The Hajj. Now, it has been a year since we came back from there and this is one special anniversary for me and my parents. During our stay in Saudi Arabia (approximately 44 days), my family and I have experienced the sweet and the bitter of living and performing ibadah with millions of people. From all those experiences, it thought us great lessons which changes the way we are and the way we live. InsyaALLAH, my family and I would like to be there once again to perform Umrah when the time comes. As for me, I felt really lucky to be one of the youngest adult to perform The Hajj and insyaALLAH, in the future time, I'll perform The Hajj once again.

Here are some shots taken by me and my father during our stay there. ^^,

Happy Eidul Adha Everyone!

Something Rather Than Nothing

Johor Bahru, Johor.

Well, it has been a while since my last post. I've got nothing to post for the previous month because I didn't have any particular occasions or events to shoot for. So, I thought that I'll just shoot anything or something, for the sake of updating my blog. At least, there is something new right? haha.. So, as this is Nov's first post, I'll just share four photos that I've taken. Have a look. ^^,

One other thing; I've developed a new watermark (Q-Visionary). I feel like it's better to make a new one; the previous looks pretty dull. This new one looks good enough for any photos to put on. It looks much more professional I presume. haha!

Solo Portraiture

Kota Tinggi - Desaru, Johor.

This was a solo portraiture of my old friend, Fitriyana (a.k.a ET). As usual, for every post that I make, there's a story behind it. So, the story behind this photo shoot basically brought me through things that are unfortunate for me on that day.

My friend here, ET, invited me to come over to here house for a very important and special occasion (which I'm not gonna tell y'all directly, or maybe I won't tell at all. haha..). It was Sunday and usually I play badminton with Habib and Ayu (and some other friends) early in the morning, but we didn't because Habib's hand was injured (don't know how though). So, I agreed on her invitation, and eventually came over to her house.

But before arriving to her home, I faced through lots of ordeals. The story goes like this:

She lives in Kota Tinggi; to reach there via highway would take about 45 minutes. The "special occasion" starts at 10am, so I took off from JB at 8.30am. At that time my phone's battery had 3 bars, so I thought that should be enough for a day. Once I was on my way, my dad called. During the conversation, my phone alarmed me with a low battery tone. I knew I can't turn back, so I continued driving, changed the profile to silent and switch to power saver. As I was traveling on the highway, I took the exit to Kota Tinggi. Basically, it was the wrong exit. She told me that I was supposed to take the Desaru exit. I had no choice but to stick with the path I was on. From Kota Tinggi to her house at Desaru would take more than 45 minutes, at that time it was already 9.15am. She told me to head to Desaru and search for a white mosque on the right and turn right from there. I drove very fast just to catch the time left. Then, without realizing, I had passed the mosque. Even though I didn't notice it, I still headed straight and still searched for the mosque till I reached Mersing. Only then I realized I was really lost. By that time it was already 10.45am. I knew I was in deep s***t. I turned back, had to travel 140km to Desaru. Damn! I called her, used the GPS, then end up with a dead battery. Damn! I did stopped by a near petrol station just to charge my battery for a while. When the battery went dead again, I had to stopped somewhere just to charge it. Then eventually, after calling and texting several times, I reached her house. Obviously, the "occasion" already ended, and I arrived very very late. It was 2 pm when I arrived. I felt very ashamed with myself and with her family and other people that were there. I didn't know where to put my face.

Just imagine, lost for 6 hours. Its the same amount of time to travel to Perak (kot!). >_<
I had to make it up for ET, so I continued with the original plan, which was to take photos of her. So, here are my shots.

P/s: I am very and truly sorry ET! huhu

Aidilfitri 2011 - Kakak Ina

Skudai, Johor.

This post was supposed to be posted during the month of Syawal, but somehow I forgot about it. haha.. So, what the heck. This is Kak Ina, she was my dad's former masters student. She's now married and have two wonderful identical sons (twins). She's a close friend to my family. She paid a visit to our house during the month of Syawal. It had been a while since the last time she came. She was supposed to come with her husband, but somehow her husband was busy with something at UTM. So she came alone. While she was visiting, my mom asked me to snap some photos.

So, here are the shots. (not much though) ^^,

Guitars

Cheras - Kuala Lumpur.

On my previous post, I wrote about the post-graduation photo shoot and in that post I mentioned that I was gonna go to KL with my family that afternoon. So, this is a continuity post from that previous one. My family and I reached Mak Uteh's house before midnight. The next morning, my dad realized that there was a guitar kapuk in the living room. Then (somehow) one of my cousin brought out his electric guitar. I've never knew that electric guitar could be so loud to play. haha.. So I thought it would interesting to shoot at. ^^,

Here are some shots, but click the link to check out more, but there's not much though, I only took several shots. ^^,

Post-Graduation Photo Shoot

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Skudai), Johor.

This was an unplanned photo shoot actually. The original plan was to meet Anis at 11am to transfer photos that were taken during Bak and Ida Kenduri Kahwin. Basically, last night I slept late and didn't have much rest, so I took the time before 11am to cover it. But then Anis called me approximately at 10am, asked me if I could take some post-graduation photos of her. Surely she was gonna pay me, so I said yeah why not. But before that I wanted to fix my car's alignment at a Proton's workshop as I was planning to go to KL with my family that afternoon. It was Friday, so I had to make much of the time before Jumaat's Prayer. It was kind of a rush, but fortunately everything went pretty well.

After my car's alignment was fixed, I headed straight to UTM and met with Anis and Abg Syahrul. Then transferred the pictures, then immediately headed to our shooting locations. We had three places to shoot at; the first one was at the UTM's main lake, the second one was at the UTM's main entrance and the last one was at the side yard of UTM's mosque.

Then after settling all the shootings, Anis bought me and Abg Syahrul some nasi beryani for lunch. Alhamdulillah, I felt very thankful. ^^,

Here are the shots. ^^,

UTM's Convocation Ceremony

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Skudai), Johor.

Its the 47th Convocation Ceremony for UTM. Its quite a large ceremony too. If I'm not mistaken, UTM has two convocation ceremonies; a large one and a small one. But I've heard from other people that UTM has three convocation ceremonies. Does it? Am I mistaken? hm... Well, I don't know about that, so we'll just leave it out. haha.. Every convocation will have some sort of festival. The festival usually take place at UTM's Padang Kawad. There's nothing much in the festival, just some plain entertainment and commercial selling (e.g. clothes, shoes, accessories, foods and drinks, automobiles, etc - you name it.).

For this particular occasion, I came to celebrate my senior's (Kak Huda) graduation in her masters degree. We used to be in the same class, but she was 1 semester a head of me and my other friends of the same batch - so she's my senior, technically. Fit and Aza was also there to celebrate too.

That morning, I had a game of badminton with Habib, Ayu, Pa'an and Yusop. We always play during the weekends; from 9am till 12.45pm. But on this particular reason, I stopped playing at 11. Then I rushed home to get myself ready, then picked up Aza and Fit at their hostel, then headed straight to where the ceremony was taken placed. Kak Huda wanted someone to take photos of her graduation moments, so I took the honor of being her personal photographer since she didn't find anyone to be so. ^^,

So, here are some shots taken. ^^,
(p/s: also included are some shots from Fit and Aza - credit to them both)

Akrab 2011

Kem Kaizen, Gunung Pulai, Johor.

As the new session begins, I enter a new semester and prepare myself for new challenges. Technically, for each new session comes with newly registered undergraduate and postgraduate students. For this particular occasion, its common for new students to go for an orientation, which took almost a week. Basically, there are two phases of orientation; the first phase of orientation is organized by MPM (Majlis Perwakilan Mahasiswa) and JKM (Jawatankuasa Kolej Mahasiswa). The second phase of orientation is handled by the students' committee in each department, within their respective faculties and this usually takes about a couple of days.

I was a former student of FAB - in Department of Quantity Surveying, and also a former committee member of the Persatuan QS-Bina. The Persatuan QS-Bina annually organized an orientation program for the new juniors of the department. Basically, I've attended this program several times before, but I don't have any direct involvement with it. I come just to have fun watching their activities and shooting photos with my camera.

So this time, QS-Bina organized their program at Kem Kaizen, Gunung Pulai. Kem Kaizen is situated near my home. Since its near, I can travel back and forth from my home, hence, no need for me to sleep there. But that will cost me my fuel and energy - driving, but I didn't care. All I was thinking was to fill my time with something beneficial. So for that particular reason, I do what I love most which is capturing moments with my camera. ^^,

So here are some shots I've taken. ^^,

Aidilfitri 2011 - Kenduri Bak & Ida

Hutan Melintang, Perak.

Attending this wedding ceremony is by far the most furthest place I've been. During the Ramadhan, I was informed by Wani and Nore that Bak and Ida are gonna get married on the 10th of September. So I asked where the ceremony would take place and they said Perak. I was really in shock, like yeah, that's very far from JB for God sake! At first I didn't want to but then they convinced me by suggesting to go there together and "tong-tong minyak + tol". So I immediately changed my mind and agreed on it. hehe..

So, on the morning of 10th September, my friends and I woke up early as we planned to start our journey at 6am. I arrived at UTM around 6am, then waited for the others (Wani, Nore, Anis and Abg Shahrul) to get well prepared for the journey. After everything was ok, we headed off to Perak with my car at 6.40am. I estimated that the journey would take about 5-6 hours to reach there. So most probably I should maintain my speed at 145-150kmh. (Crossing my fingers so that I don't get caught speeding..haha)

Since I'm familiar with the route to Perak, I felt pretty confident. So I thought, in order to go to Hutan Melintang, I  take the route from Teluk Intan, because at least I recognize all the roads there. However, the Google Maps app showed an alternative road to go there, which the suggested route will head straight to Hutan Melintang. Wani's GPS also showed the same preference. So we all agreed that we use the route preferred by Wani's GPS.

So, driving from JB, I took the Behrang Exit to head to Hutan Melintang, as preferred by the GPS. At first, the road was pretty good, a little narrow though, and had great surroundings, plus it was pouring rain a little at the time. I had this feeling like I was rallying through the curvy roads, so basically I had lots of fun driving through it (didn't care about how the others felt though..haha). Then we entered this route which was really isolated. Like really, there were no one using that road. What's more, along the path of that route the road surface was really uneven. It was a bumpy ride and spoiled my car's alignments. Then all of the sudden the road got really dirty with wet red soils. It just spoiled my car 'cleanliness' really bad. Overall, the road conditions seriously tortured my car.

Eventually, after facing several road challenges, we reached Bak and Ida's wedding ceremony by 12.40pm. My first thought was that the brides will arrive by 2 o'clock, but once we've reached there, the brides were already eating their meals. I was surprised though. I guess the 'perarakan masuk' Bak and Ida was planned to be done early. Then we met with some other friends there who arrived earlier than us.

At the moment, I took some pictures, so here are some of the results. ^^,

Aidilfitri 2011 - Rumah Asyiqin

Skudai, Johor.

Last year - if not mistaken, G7 (my school batch - SMIH) had organized a 'ziarah-menziarahi' program during the month of Syawal. That was when all our school friends are at Johor. We've visited most of our teacher's home during the time. Lots of our friends joined and we traveled with many cars. But this year, I think, our batch was unable to have the opportunity to organized such program as because, a week after the first week of Syawal, university students had to return back and register for the new semester.

So, even though we weren't able to 'beraya' like last year, we still can 'beraya' at our friends house with a small group of friends. And for this particular visit, we've came to Asyiqin's house, which was somewhere at Kangkar Pulai.

Aysiqin is still considered a part of our G7 family, even though she left SMIH early - if not mistaken, she moved to a different school during Form 4. She used to live in the same Taman as I do and we used to take the same bus to school and also used to be in the same class. After she moved to Kangkar Pulai and transferred to a new school, I've never had seen her since then until she entered UTM and was in the same faculty as I did. And now she has graduated from UTM. Currently she's working at a firm.

So, we have gathered some friends to pay her a visit. There were two cars convoyed to her house, and there will be another car which will come much later, so the first two cars had to head off first as we needed to search for her house. So, in my car I brought Mad Long and Acapamin, and in Nabihah's car, she brought Izzah, Hafizah, Nawal and Aimey (that's how its spelled - I think). Eventually we reached there at 9pm somewhat, and an hour later, the third car arrived, which brought Acap Ahmad, Zuhaili and Zakwan.

We all had fun hanging out, talking, socializing and laughing together at her home. I brought my camera along, so here are some shots I've captured at the time. ^^,

Thank you Asyiqin and Family for all the hospitality provided, we had a really great time. May Allah repay you with all His blessings and Rahmat. InsyaALLAH ^^,

Aidilfitri 2011 - Habib & Ayu

Skudai, Johor.

Habib and Ayu came to 'beraya' at our house that evening. It was quite a surprise though as we were not ready for any guests to visit our house. Since they were coming, my mother and I prepared some simple meals to serve them. My dad didn't come home yet at the time, but eventually he will by 6.30pm. I've made them some mushroom soup for them to eat and my mom served them some of the 'Kuih Raya' that we had.

This particular mushroom soup is considered as my ultimate specialty for any guests that come to my family's home. Typically, all of my guest love my mushroom soup and I feel pretty proud of it. haha.. Most of the guests did asked me for its recipe. But the recipe is kept secret with me and no one will know how it is made. haha.. Just kidding, its just a simple sup, and I have no hidden secret regarding it. I'm sure anyone and everyone can make one. =)

Habib and Ayu are basically my new badminton friends which I've made during a friendly match of badminton at Kompleks Sukan UTM. My dad and I always play a friend match with them during the weekends. Honestly, they're very fun to play with. They're energetic and have great passion for badminton. Not to forget, they are very friendly people. ^^,

So, here are the shots I've taken. ^^,

Aidilfitri 2011 - Parent's Portrait

Jejantas Ayer Keroh.

On that Thursday, we were on our way back to JB. The way I travel, Jejantas Ayer Keroh is a compulsory pit stop for me, from anywhere I travel to. If I travel to KL or anywhere in Selangor, my first stop would be that Jejantas. And If I travel to KL, I only make one quick stop, that is if I travel alone, and most probably would reached there within 3 hours. But with my parents, most probably the travel period would take about 4-5 hours. haha..

So, here at Jejantas Ayer Keroh, I've made some portraiture of my parents and here are the pictures I've captured. ^^,

Aidilfitri 2011 - Beraya

Puncak Alam - Sekitar Selangor.

As told on the previous post, my family celebrated Eid at our hometown. And since we don't have any kampung anymore, we went to pay some visits to our relative's house around Selangor (on my father's side). Well, atleast, we went somewhere, not like, just stay at home, which certainly would be very boring.
So, on that same day of Eid (Tuesday), we headed to Puncak Alam at around 4 in the afternoon. And we eventually reached there at around 9pm. So basically, we had lots of fun and we also visited some other relatives around Selangor. Then we went back to JB on Thursday's afternoon. Fortunately for us, we were very very lucky to not get stuck in any congestion.

On our way to Selangor that Tuesday, the roads were great, no congestion, even though there were lots of cars. However, the roads towards JB were very congested that Tuesday. And on Thursday, the roads to Selangor were congested and it weren't towards JB. So, basically, it turned the other way around. I guess we very in luck. ^^,

So, here are the photos that I've captured. ^^,

Aidilfitri 2011 - Family Portrait

Johor Bahru, Johor.

On the first day of Raya, my family and I celebrated (I think, for the second time) Eid at our beloved hometown, which is Johor Bahru. We performed our Eid prayers at UTM's mosque early in the morning. After we've completed them, we headed back to our home. Like everyone else, they all went back to their kampung (well, most off them, yeah), but not for my family as our kampung is Johor Bahru, officially. And that was not a problem for us as we were still happy with what we already have. ^^,

While we were celebrating Eid at our very own home, I wanted to capture a good family portrait with my camera. The day before the Eid, my family had cooked some meals for the Eid's feast. Not much though, but enough for the three of us to eat. ^^,

So, here are the pictures captured. ^^,

25th Night Of Ramadhan

Johor Bahru, Johor.

25/08/2011 - That date was my birthday and it fell on the month of Ramadhan. This was the second time that my birthday fell on the same month, the holy month of Islam. And I feel pretty lucky, you know. Last time, Afif told me that within the years of our lifetime, our birthday will and has fall onto the same day as we were born on for several times. Like me, 25/08/1988 was Thursday and my previous birthday, this year, was also on Thursday. I've tried to calculate the margin of years for the day of our birth date that fell on the same day. It's not the same or accurate actually. For example, 6 years after 1988 (which was 1994) my birth date was on the same day, but then 6 years after 1994, it wasn't the same day until another 5 years; a total of 11 years later after 1994. But what the heck, it's my birthday! Yeah! ^^,

On this particular night, Arif, Rasyid and I planned to do qiamullail together at UTM's mosque. (The plan was basically made last week) Before the qiamullail, we had some activities to do. So, what we have done was visiting Ishaq at HSA, then we break fast together at Kampung Boy Restaurant, then performed maghrib - isya' and tarawih prayers at a mosque in Terminal Bus Larkin, then after that buy some donuts and cakes at City Square JB and eat them at Dataran. I've invited Mad Long to come along, unfortunately he can only join us for the qiamullail. I also invited Iqbal, but he can only join us for moreh.

Currently is the third phase of Ramadhan, which have ten days left before Syawal emerges. Within the ten days of the third phase, there is one night which is very special. It's called the Night of Lailatul Qadar, in which it is the night when Al Quran was descended by Allah SWT to the earth and to Nabi Muhammad SAW. And that night falls and occurs once only on the odd date within that 10 days e.g 21th, 23rd, 25th night and so on. Since my birthday was on the 25th night, I was really hoping that Lailatul Qadar falls on it, that was the reason for performing qiamullail with my friends. If it did, I'd be very lucky. ^^,

Well, FYI, if you follow the usual calender, I celebrated my birthday one day early, which was the 24th. However, according to Islamic calender, the new day merges after Maghrib prayer, and that is why its considered the 25th night.

Musibah ---> Steamboat

Dataran, Johor Bahru, Johor.

Well, based on the title of this post, the story basically goes like this; 2 days ago, as usual, breaking the fast with my family right outside the UTM's mosque. Then I met three of my degree friends; they too are furthering their masters; which has not been seen for a very long time. They were Anis, Nore and Wani. So we set the time to have a little 'moreh' together at Restoran Jalal after the tarawih. Basically, I too had made a promise to Ghazi that I would buy him steamboat for tonight's 'moreh'. After spending an hour with my x-degree friends, I immediately went to pick him up at his house. By that time it was already 11.15pm. My tank was about to empty, so I filled it up first at a gas station. Then off we went to the Dataran.

I drove my car fast enough to reach there early, because I intended not to come back home late. So, along the road heading to the Dataran, somewhere at Danga Bay area; at first it was a very smooth ride then all of the sudden a big sound came out, like a bang, which sounds similar to a broken thick steel bar. It was loud. I was very worried, but then again, I was pretty sure that I didn't hit anything on the road as the road was very clear and smooth. So I kept on driving till we reached the destination.

I parked the car at the parking area near the Dataran, then immediately inspected all the four tires and the belly of my car. We did not see anything as it was night and dark, even with the help of a torch light, there were no damage seen. So we suspected that there might be a damage, but don't know what and where. And so we headed off to eat first.

Back To School

SMIH - SRIH, Kampung Sinaran Baru, Senai.

20/8/2011 - My old school was organizing a program called Malam Badar. For this typical program, it includes a huge iftar, performing prayers in large 'jemaah' and a talk from a representative which was regarding with Malam Badar. Basically, the programs starts as soon as we all break the fast.

So, lots of people come to this program like students, parents, teachers and alumni. The reason I went to the school was because of a promise I've made to Arif that I would help him and his other friends with the preparation of foods to distribute to the people who will attend the program.

I headed to the school from my house after asar, I eventually reached there by 5.30pm. Most of the men there had already finished cooking the foods. The preparation had started early, like before zohor maybe. So what's left to do was to transfer the foods from the cafeteria to the building below (SRIH). So most of my helping hands were on that part of the job and distributing the food to particular areas around the building.

The food provided was conclusive of nasi, lauk kambing (I think; or was it lembu? hm..), lauk ayam, some fruits, some kurmas, some breads, and this other one thing that I don't know what it's called. haha, I'm not good at knowing food names, all I know is eating. haha.

What's fun was meeting old friends there. There were Arif, Amir, Syahir, Afif, Mad Long, Asyraf Aminuddin, Zubair, Ghazi and so on. Basically, I didn't participate much of the program, only helped for the preparation. Most of the time, I hanged out with all the other friends. Gathering together with my batch and walked around the school and talked about the past times.

I left this school during 2005 and now its already 6 years, and lots of things had changed since then. There were 4 new buildings, which one of them was under construction. There were lots of major renovations, which was mostly different from what we had during our school years. Overall, our school was in the process of development, and to be honest, it looks good.

I brought my camera along, so here are some of the pictures that I took. ^^,

Berbuka Di Bulan Mulia

MSI, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai.

Usually, people go to the 'bazar' and by foods there before they get ready to break their fast. Or some people go to the mosque as it's committee provide foods for people to break their fast. But for my family, we did not follow the same way as anyone else. My mom cooks non-heavy foods as it is vital for us not get too full which could jeopardize the khusyu'-ness when performing our prayers.

Even if the 'bazar' provides various foods, including heavy and non-heavy foods, somehow we aren't able to control our stomach demands for them. And we end up purchasing lots of food. And on the other hand, the mosque basically provides heavy foods only, mostly nasi berlauk la. I'm kinda into a 'diet program', so I'd have to 'defend' myself from eating those stuffs. haha..

Since my mom cooks, I helped her in the kitchen. Then when all are finished, it is packed into a basket. So when the breaking time comes near, my family and I headed to the mosque and once we've reached there, we immediately prepare the mats for us to sit on and delegate the foods. All the three of us sat there and waited patiently for the 'azan'.

Basically, for this ramadhan, this is our new 'trend' of breaking our fast together as a family. I did bring along my camera with me, but didn't capture much though. So, here are some pictures that I took. ^^,

Iftar + Moreh

Johor Bahru.

Currently, it is the holy month of Ramadhan. Muslims all around the world are fasting for a month. It is the only holy month in a year. All the devils (syaitan) are cuffed and locked up in hell; in return, all the heaven's gates are open. In this holy month, Allah promised us to give multiple 'rewards' (pahala) for each and every 'ibadah' and also good deeds that we do.

Typically, this year is a little bit different. Usually, the holy month of Ramadhan comes when all students are in their semester. Even when all are fasting, there are always something to do. Then there is the 'bazar'. It is basically alive with all the students coming and buying various foods that are provided. The fun part is when we go to the 'bazar' with friends and break fast together. And the IPTs' mosques are filled with students. So, what I meant by different is that, right now, majority of students are in their study leave, 4 months of it and I believe most of them are at their hometown. So basically, there are not much of hanging out with bunch of friends. And there's not much to do other than hibernating. haha.. We often break fast with families rather than friends. Which is a good thing. But its kinda boring for some people, like me. You gotta understand, I'm an only child.

So, for this particular time, an 'iftar' (a.k.a breaking fast together with friends) was planned. Well, it was a spontaneous plan actually. Taufik and I were visiting Ishaq, along with Zubair and Afif, in the evening. Usually, when its evening, JB roads are congested with people who are coming home from work. So, logically, due to the predetermined congestion, I thought we couldn't reach home in time before Maghrib and I was sure there will be an 'iftar' with the four of us. But then it was only me and Taufik, as Afif and Zubair wants to go 'berbuka' at home. So, I invited Arif to 'iftar' with us.

A Poem

S.I.N.G.L.E

Visiting Ishaq

Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru.

Currently, my friend Ishaq, is still lying on a bed in the hospital. Its already been more than two weeks now. He checked in since the 25th of July. Basically at that time, I didn't know anything about him getting severely ill. Remember the previous post about going to Times Square? He was already at the hospital for three days, and I was in KL hanging out with friends. It really shocked me. He was well and healthy the last time I met him. I was told that he was into his second day of industrial training, then he got ill.

If not mistaken, Taufik was the one who told me about the shocking news. So, I had to meet Ishaq as soon as possible. The first time I met him; I came with Taufik, Syahir and Afif; he was lying on the bed, weak, his temperature was high, and unconscious. Probably he was asleep because he was so weak. He didn't eat anything for the past few days, but even if he did, he'd throw up. He only drinks. During the first visit, I was told by Ishaq's younger sister that he was suspected to be infected with 'Tibi' (don't know the correct spelling) around his intestines. And he has a minor short term memory loss. He barely talks much and he doesn't move much at all. When we took him to the toilet to go for a pee, he barely remembers the way back to his bed. I was afraid that something was infecting or messing his brain.

Then the second time I met him, I came with Taufik, Arif and Rasyid, and we brought a hamper for Ishaq. I felt that it wasn't proper to visit him empty handed, that's why we brought the hamper. It was pity to see him like that, probably he wasn't comfortable with the surroundings. The ward he stayed in was too warm and crowded with other sick patients. I just hoped that government's hospital could be improved and provide with better facilities and cheerful surroundings for both patients and personnel. Lots of people visited him at the time. And just like the first visit, he didn't move much, didn't talk much and was half conscious, but there was a tube to channel liquidated foods through his nose.

Just Having Fun

Kuala Lumpur.

- No Pictures Were Taken -

All right, the story basically goes like this. One day, Rasyid decided to plan on a trip to Universal Studios Singapore. So, Taufik, Hafidz, Zubair and I agreed on it, but we did not set the date yet. We asked Arif if he could provide us the accommodation to stay for one night there in Singapore. But then, difficulties sets in and conformations has not been made. So we figured, we cancel the trip, instead we go "somewhere less expensive".

So, the three masterminds (Taufik, Zubair and I) decided that we should go to Genting Highlands Theme Park on the 25th of July, as a substitute to our original plan, which was going to USS. So, what we need was transportation, accommodation, budgeting and invite two other friends to join us. The transportation, accommodation and budgets were all ready settled. All that was needed now was to find another two friends, which should be easy to do, but I was wrong. 5 invitations were given and only one confirmed. WTHeck? So, 4 people were supposed to set out to Genting Highland, but then at the last moment, Zubair can't make it. Which kinda pissed me off. Really pissed, I mean. So, the trip was again, CANCELLED.

Then Taufik had this idea; we should go to the Times Square Theme Park, which basically situated at the heart of KL. Since he was the thinker, I had to be the doer. I provided the transportation and invited Shurayh to come along with us, at the same time requested Shurayh if he can provide us a place to stay for one night. Only the three of us go, and didn't invite anyone else because we couldn't take the risk of any uncertainties which could possibly ruin the whole plan. The date was then set, on the 28th we go. Yes! Alas, a trip was successfully planned and organized! I was very much excited to go to such thrilling place. The last time I went to USS, I was unable to try all the thrills provided there due to the time constraint.

Outing With Taufik

Recreational Park, Taman Mutiara Rini, Johor.

It was a boring day, had nothing to do. Then Taufik called me, he wanted me to accompany him eating somewhere. Then he suggested that we should go outing together, shoot anything outdoor. So I thought it would be nice if we go to a recreational park in the evenings, but was not sure where. Then I figured, we should try Taman Mutiara Rini's recreational park. But then, I was unsure if the place have completed it's renovation. The last time I passed by that place, it was under construction. But that was a long time ago, so I had to confirm it with a friend. I called Afif, asked him if he had been there recently. He confidently affirms that the recreational park is already open for public use.

Taufik and I set to go after completing our asar prayer. I picked up Taufik at 5.15pm, then we were off to Taman Mutiara Rini. We searched for a descent place to eat. Then we found this particular place, it was kinda descent, not many people around though, so we tried to eat there. Basically, I wasn't hungry, Taufik was, so he ordered nasi goreng kampung and a bandung cincau. I ordered a bandung suam. After finishing up the meal, we headed off to the recreational park. As we reached the location, we were shock to see so many people there, it was congested, there were not enough parking spaces. People were parking their vehicles everywhere. It was a challenge for me to squeeze around the area, searching for a space to park my car. Fortunately, I found a space. It was a great relieve. But I didn't think further, like how am I gonna get out of this congestion, with cars parking everywhere. Heck, I was confident enough that I can handle my car through challenges of tight spaces. haha..

As soon as I parked the car, Taufik and I immediately went searching for anything interesting to shoot. It was windy at the time, it was warm, very nice evening basically. Since it was windy, many people played kites. There were people exercising, jogging, playing badminton, skating, dating, and etc. There was one open area, which also has open roads, used for playing remote control vehicles. These remote control vehicles were engine powered, which are powerful and fast, and not to mentioned, they're pretty cool too! I always wanted to buy one, but I already spent my money on cameras. haha.. ^^,

So here are some of my shots. ^^,

Kids

These are some of the photos taken during a Family Event at Pekan Rengit, Johor. It was my friend's event, she invited me to come and be her family's photographer. It was my first solo "mission", so basically, I was kinda shy and all. She told me, "you're a photographer, you shouldn't be shy.." haha.. Guess she's right. ^^,

The sole purpose of organizing such event was to gather and get to know all the families. Because all of them are from far, and most of them do not recognize all their relatives. So, many families attended the event and they all brought their kids, of course. They played games and enjoyed the activities in the event. So, here are some shots of them. ^^,

Reunion X-JPP KMJ

Tebrau, Johor.

Last time I arranged a reunion at Melaka, there were supposed to be 7 or 6 people attending, unfortunately it end up to be only four people (which includes me) who attended the reunion, all costings were to be bared by these four people. Heck, barbecued foods had to be finished by these four people too, which was a lot at that time. Those other 2 - 3 people canceled their attendance at the last minute, which was a big bummer for us. Definitely, we felt very frustrated. But, its not worth it if we spent the reunion with frustration, so we just go on, enjoying, and get along with what we have that time.

This time, someone suggested to organize a reunion during this long 4 months study leave. With the creation of a closed group in Facebook, it makes things easier to discuss and post the particulars regarding anything relevant to the group. It was suggested to be arranged in KL, within July, but the costings, transportation, accommodation and all other relevant things have not been discussed, let alone the attendances were unable to determined yet. Somehow, a friend of mine appointed me to be the head organizer, so I accepted. Since the attendance was so difficult to be confirmed (due to the lack of responses and supports), I've created this provision whereby all the group members were given a week (which starts from the date of the posting) to make their final conformation and were set a limit that it must exceed 5 confirmations in order for the reunion to be continued, otherwise it will be canceled. And so, a week has passed, the total confirmations did not exceed the limit, thus the reunion was canceled. So, some other time, maybe.

Then, last week, Syamim made a post in the group, asking if there were anyone in JB to be hang out with. Well, certainly, there was. Syamim works at Pasir Gudang, and he is free during the weekends. Currently in JB was Najlaa, Nurul and me. So, a small reunion was arranged at Jusco Tebrau. We hang out, we ate pizza together at Pizza Hut; we talked and talked. Then we performed our zohor prayer. After that we went bowling at Daiman Bowl. We enjoyed our time together even though it was a simple gathering. ^^,

I brought along my camera with me, so here are some shots. ^^,

Hanging Out

It has been a while since the last time I ate Secret Recipe's cake, so I had this kind of crave for delicious cakes. haha.. At first, I invited Taufik to come along with me, but he had to babysit his little sister at home. So, I asked Rasyid and Hafidz to join me instead. I thought I was gonna pick them up after zohor but then Afif sent me a message, asking me a favor. Afif had to meet Zuhaili and Zuhaili's friend to discuss about an interior decorative pre-design for a particular event at 2.30pm. In order to meet them, I had to send him to BBU. So, logically, I can bring Afif along too.

I picked up Afif first, then picked up Rasyid at BBU. Hafidz had some things to settle first, but he'll soon meet us at Zuhaili's place. So, the three of us went straight to Zuhaili's location. Then Zuhaili brought us to meet his friend at his friend's house. Zuhaili, Rasyid and I had some chit chat while Afif discusses regarding the pre-designs with Zuhaili's friend. Then moments later, Hafidz arrived. So he too went inside and joined our chit chat. After Afif and Zuhaili's friend was done with the dicussion, Zuhaili invited us to have some drinks outside and have some more of our chit chat.

So, we all went out and settled at this particular stall that sell foods and drinks, and we all took our orders. We talk and talk with Zuhaili. Zuhaili sure had lots of stories to tell us and he too makes lots of jokes. hehe.. Well, it has been a while since the last time we've met. We all shared our joys and laughter together but then we had to go because I was so eager to get my cakes. haha.. So, all four of us headed off to Jusco Tebrau.

On-Job Training

Royal Johor Country Club, Johor Bahru.

Early last month, my friend Radzi asked me if I would like to be his assistant photographer for a wedding reception. I figured, it would be best for me to gain new experience in wedding photography since he is my friend in the industry and a professional photographer & editor. So I've made a promise to him that I'll help him. This was a priceless opportunity for me. Basically, the wedding reception was associated with Radzi's family, relatives of Radzi's, something like that. So the job that we were doing, was kinda of a noble help for his relatives. Asyraf also tagged along with us, so Asyraf and I helped Radzi for this wedding photography.

At first, Asyraf and I met at Restoran Osman, then waited for Radzi to come. He had some things to settle first, then moments later he arrived. But then, he was informed that the make-up session will start at 12pm, so we went to another restaurant and had some few drinks there. 5 minutes before 12pm, we were off to this bridal "store" and patiently waited for the brides to come. And when they arrived, immediately I got myself ready to shoot photos for Radzi. I stayed there till 1.25pm, because I had to go to RJCC's banquet before the brides do, leaving Radzi and Asyraf with them. I arrived there at 2pm, and by 2.30pm the brides came. During that 30 minutes, I took some shoots of the place. 2.30pm, the real moment has started, all three of us took places and started shooting. Radzi taught me lots of things like angles, the dos and don'ts, etc. I obtained lots of useful tips from Radzi along the session. Thanks Radzi! ^^,

So, here are some of my shots. ^^,
