Family Convocation

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai.

Alhamdulillah, all praise to Allah, The All Mighty, The Most Merciful. I am now officially a graduate in Master of Asset and Facilities Management. It was a joyous day - the day that every student and parents have waited for; graduation day. I am grateful, thankful, to Allah for the blessings that HE gave. Alhamdulillah. Also, I'd like to congratulate the other graduates too for their achievement.  So, here are some pictures of me during my convocation and also with my cousin Afi. ^^,

Relief

Sayam Restaurant, Stulang Laut.

Wow, it has been more than a month since the last post I shared on my blog. That's because I was so busy completing and finalizing my master's project (or thesis). Alhamdulillah, my thesis now is finally complete and boy, what a big relief. All those times spent on finishing the thesis had really paid off. I felt satisfied. Alhamdulillah, I have completed my master's degree! It was a call for a celebration, so my friends and I went out and had dinner together at Sayam Restaurant. And yes, I brought my camera along and so here are the pictures taken. ^^,

P/s : I'd like to congratulate Nadia, Aqlima and Zafirah as they too have completed their master's degree. We'll meet again on graduation day!

1st Rejab

Restoran Sayam, Stulang, Johor.

Alhamdulillah. My friends and I were welcoming the 1st day of Rejab by fasting together. That night, we had planned to break the fast together, at a place somewhere my friends haven't been yet. It has been a while since the last time we break fast with a whole bunch of friends - that was when we were undergrad students. Now that we are all in our separate ways, this was one of those opportunities that we could not miss to gather. Soon Ramadhan will arrive and we all can't wait to celebrate it. InsyaALLAH. As usual, I brought my camera along and took some shots. So here they are. Enjoy. ^^,

UTM's Convocation Ceremony

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor.

First and foremost, I'd like to congratulate to all my fellow (now former) classmates as they all have successfully graduated in Masters of Asset and Facilities Management. Alhamdulillah. My turn awaits insyaALLAH. My job in taking photos of them does not end during the pre-graduation photo shoot, it lasted till the official ceremony - UTM's 58th Convocation Ceremony. It was a very exciting day. Families and friends gathered around celebrating for those who have graduated on that day. So, here are my shots that I took. Enjoy. ^^,

Pre-Graduation Photo shoot

Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim, Johor Bahru.

These are my former classmates. They graduated earlier than me. I had some issue with my Masters Project, so that was basically why I didn't graduate together with them. This was a pre-convocation photoshoot, taken at two different locations; Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim JB and Hutan Bandar JB.  They came all the way from KL and were very excited for the upcoming convocation ceremony (which was on 7th of May). Had a sweating-experience shooting them. Haha! So, here are the shots that I took. Enjoy. ^^,

Friendly Badminton Tournament

Dewanraya Taman Universiti, Skudai, Johor.

This friendly badminton tournament was organized by HALUAN Siswa UTM (if not mistaken). I had the opportunity to take part in the tournament even though I wasn't a member of the HALUAN group. Why, you asked? Well, I'm a close friend to Azreen (a.k.a Roy) and initially he did insisted me to participate but I politely said no and made some lame excuses. But then Abbas urged me to participate and be his partner. I tried resisting his offer, but in the end I thought to myself "what the heck, I might as well try". And Alhamdulillah, my partner and I managed to win and moved to the quarter finals. Eventually, we lost a match, but it was totally a great game. I took some shots during the tournament; not much but here they are. Enjoy. ^^,

Visitors

Johor Bahru, Johor.

On this post, I've decided to include some pictures of people who have visited my house. Each time, a guest/s comes over, they brighten up my house with happiness. So, I'll share a short story behind these three photos. ^^,

Post-Graduation Photo Shoot

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Skudai), Johor.

This was an unplanned photo shoot actually. The original plan was to meet Anis at 11am to transfer photos that were taken during Bak and Ida Kenduri Kahwin. Basically, last night I slept late and didn't have much rest, so I took the time before 11am to cover it. But then Anis called me approximately at 10am, asked me if I could take some post-graduation photos of her. Surely she was gonna pay me, so I said yeah why not. But before that I wanted to fix my car's alignment at a Proton's workshop as I was planning to go to KL with my family that afternoon. It was Friday, so I had to make much of the time before Jumaat's Prayer. It was kind of a rush, but fortunately everything went pretty well.

After my car's alignment was fixed, I headed straight to UTM and met with Anis and Abg Syahrul. Then transferred the pictures, then immediately headed to our shooting locations. We had three places to shoot at; the first one was at the UTM's main lake, the second one was at the UTM's main entrance and the last one was at the side yard of UTM's mosque.

Then after settling all the shootings, Anis bought me and Abg Syahrul some nasi beryani for lunch. Alhamdulillah, I felt very thankful. ^^,

Here are the shots. ^^,

UTM's Convocation Ceremony

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Skudai), Johor.

Its the 47th Convocation Ceremony for UTM. Its quite a large ceremony too. If I'm not mistaken, UTM has two convocation ceremonies; a large one and a small one. But I've heard from other people that UTM has three convocation ceremonies. Does it? Am I mistaken? hm... Well, I don't know about that, so we'll just leave it out. haha.. Every convocation will have some sort of festival. The festival usually take place at UTM's Padang Kawad. There's nothing much in the festival, just some plain entertainment and commercial selling (e.g. clothes, shoes, accessories, foods and drinks, automobiles, etc - you name it.).

For this particular occasion, I came to celebrate my senior's (Kak Huda) graduation in her masters degree. We used to be in the same class, but she was 1 semester a head of me and my other friends of the same batch - so she's my senior, technically. Fit and Aza was also there to celebrate too.

That morning, I had a game of badminton with Habib, Ayu, Pa'an and Yusop. We always play during the weekends; from 9am till 12.45pm. But on this particular reason, I stopped playing at 11. Then I rushed home to get myself ready, then picked up Aza and Fit at their hostel, then headed straight to where the ceremony was taken placed. Kak Huda wanted someone to take photos of her graduation moments, so I took the honor of being her personal photographer since she didn't find anyone to be so. ^^,

So, here are some shots taken. ^^,
(p/s: also included are some shots from Fit and Aza - credit to them both)

Aidilfitri 2011 - Kenduri Bak & Ida

Hutan Melintang, Perak.

Attending this wedding ceremony is by far the most furthest place I've been. During the Ramadhan, I was informed by Wani and Nore that Bak and Ida are gonna get married on the 10th of September. So I asked where the ceremony would take place and they said Perak. I was really in shock, like yeah, that's very far from JB for God sake! At first I didn't want to but then they convinced me by suggesting to go there together and "tong-tong minyak + tol". So I immediately changed my mind and agreed on it. hehe..

So, on the morning of 10th September, my friends and I woke up early as we planned to start our journey at 6am. I arrived at UTM around 6am, then waited for the others (Wani, Nore, Anis and Abg Shahrul) to get well prepared for the journey. After everything was ok, we headed off to Perak with my car at 6.40am. I estimated that the journey would take about 5-6 hours to reach there. So most probably I should maintain my speed at 145-150kmh. (Crossing my fingers so that I don't get caught speeding..haha)

Since I'm familiar with the route to Perak, I felt pretty confident. So I thought, in order to go to Hutan Melintang, I  take the route from Teluk Intan, because at least I recognize all the roads there. However, the Google Maps app showed an alternative road to go there, which the suggested route will head straight to Hutan Melintang. Wani's GPS also showed the same preference. So we all agreed that we use the route preferred by Wani's GPS.

So, driving from JB, I took the Behrang Exit to head to Hutan Melintang, as preferred by the GPS. At first, the road was pretty good, a little narrow though, and had great surroundings, plus it was pouring rain a little at the time. I had this feeling like I was rallying through the curvy roads, so basically I had lots of fun driving through it (didn't care about how the others felt though..haha). Then we entered this route which was really isolated. Like really, there were no one using that road. What's more, along the path of that route the road surface was really uneven. It was a bumpy ride and spoiled my car's alignments. Then all of the sudden the road got really dirty with wet red soils. It just spoiled my car 'cleanliness' really bad. Overall, the road conditions seriously tortured my car.

Eventually, after facing several road challenges, we reached Bak and Ida's wedding ceremony by 12.40pm. My first thought was that the brides will arrive by 2 o'clock, but once we've reached there, the brides were already eating their meals. I was surprised though. I guess the 'perarakan masuk' Bak and Ida was planned to be done early. Then we met with some other friends there who arrived earlier than us.

At the moment, I took some pictures, so here are some of the results. ^^,

Pekan Rengit

Parit Botak, Rengit, Johor.

My friends and I were invited by Kak Huda to come over to her Majlis Aqiqah. At first, I thought the ceremony was for Kak Huda. I was puzzled and confused though, thinking to myself: " Since when did Kak Huda got pregnant and gave birth? ". And so I asked Kak Syida about what I was thinking. She suddenly laugh at me. I became even more confused. And so she told me the real fact; the ceremony was for her older brother (if I'm not mistaken), it was not for Kak Huda. After knowing the real thing, I felt a bit embarrassed. Haha.. Oh well, at least I got it straight forward.

Me and my other three friends started our journey to Kak Huda's house at 10.30am. Once we've entered the Spg. Renggam's exit, we headed straight to Kluang. Supposedly we go straight to Pekan Rengit, but we went to Kluang first because "she" (one of the three friends in the car) was going to meet her boyfriend there. It was a long journey to Kluang and the story behind it was also long too, so at the end, we reached Kak Huda's house at 1.30pm (I think). - Sigh -

P/s: I did not have the chance to snap some photos of the baby because the baby was in a private room with her parents. Darn it.

So, here are some shots.

Banafee Village

Banafee Village is located at the heart of Johor Bahru. I have never been there before. Its basically a dinning place, more like an exclusive place though. Wow.. But what the heck, my friends (classmates) and I came there just to enjoy the tastes of foods. Since Kak Syida is buying me foods, I feel very glad coz I don't have to spend a single cent. ^^,

I feel a bit uncomfortable being the only guy with all the girls. - FYI, I'm the only Malay guy in the class. Of course I do feel uncomfortable. - At that time, I really wished that Chai and Yeoh could join, unfortunately those two had to attend their friend's dinner at the exact time. Darn it. So, these are the photos I've captured.

Gunung Berlumut

Gunung Berlumut, Kluang, Johor.

This idea of a class activity was made by the girls. We spent one whole day enjoying ourselves swimming and eating by the river side of one of Gunung Berlumut's river stream. We travelled there with two cars and a total of 9 friends (including me) joined the activity. It took us about 2 hours to reach the destination. The girls made lots of foods, e.g. nasi goreng, nuggets, steamed corns with butter, fried chickens, drinks, hot dogs, watermelons, sandwiches...that's basically it, I think. But anyway, we really enjoyed eating all the foods (which tastes really great and delicious) and had fun playing with the river waters.

So, these are the moments that I've captured.

FM Seminar

My class went to a Facilities Management Seminar, handled by a professor from a university in Germany, named Prof. Michael May. The seminar took place at UTM-KL and the participants are comprises of senior JKR staffs and master students from UTM-Skudai (which was basically my class - only).

Actually, our lecturer Dr. Mai 'demanded' us to go to the seminar that Saturday and so I had to organize a bus to bring my class there. It was a last minute organized activity for my class, but Alhamdulillah, it went well. The booking for UTM's buses should be made a week earlier, but I manage to get it on Friday, which was before Saturday (the D-Day). Fuuhh.. Alhamdulillah. Heck, I was informed late regarding of it.

Prof. Michael May was on-the-way to Hong Kong from his hometown, so he stop by to Malaysia and was invited to give a simple talk about Facilities Management and his research done within the field. So, these are the pictures I've taken on the D-Day.

My Classmates

Alhamdulillah, I've obtained my bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying and now I've further my studies in master's degree. I am currently undergoing master's degree in Asset and Facilities Management; the program duration is 1 year and a half. Now I've completed my second semester; waiting for my results to come out. InsyaALLAH, for the final semester I will begin my master's project; creating my own thesis.

So, basically, these are the pictures of my friends during the first semester of my master. (Not all of them are in my photos) Not many students though, an approximate of 12 students (including me), if I'm not mistaken. During that time, I took these pictures with my Nikon D5000 and edited a little with CS4.
